The Challenge of Today’s HVAC Tech… If you are an HVAC Service Tech in today’s world, I do not envy the challenges that you face on each call. HVAC Service Techs in my opinion have to learn the most technical information in any trade. Compiled with the constant change that manufacturers and the government place on their shoulders. Then they are faced with communicating this new info to home owners. You not only have to sell today’s repairs but also get customers prepared for what might happen tomorrow as well. On top of the challenge of your work being some of the hardest to diagnose and perform like; sizing ductwork, maximizing airflow, and using thousands of dollars in some of the newest tools and meters while working in some hellacious conditions, you are also faced with customers who think they can “get by” without doing it today. Or they “have an uncle in the business”, or “need to get more prices”, or “the price is to high”, compared to your competition “Low Ball Larry.” The list can go on an on.
